Synthetic oils are becoming more and more accepted due to the numerous benefits they provide. One of the more popular benefits that most people are taking advantage of is not having to change their oil as often. In some cases there are synthetic oils on the market today that achieve drain intervals up to 25,000-miles.

The list of benefits goes on and on, but the bottom line is it just makes more sense to use a high quality synthetic oil. Petroleum oil has reached a point where it doesn't make sense to use it anymore. With half the worlds drained oil unaccounted for it makes sense to use extended drain synthetics for the simple fact we will reduce underground pollution. Drained motor oil is finding it's way into ground water supplies and with water becoming in short supply we need to start looking at the environmental impact of using longer drain oils.

Our resources are drying up and although synthetic oils won't completely solve this problem it is a viable start. Did you know that all of Europe has been using extended drain synthetic oils for well over two decades now. The technology used in the oils in Europe can now be found right here in the United States. However, beware of some manufacturer's calling a product synthetic when in fact it may not be synthetic oil at all.

In the refinement of petroleum oil there is a new process out there called hydrocracking and is nothing more then a fancier name for pure petroleum oil. Although this practice is allowed it's hardly ethical and most unsuspecting consumers have no idea. The hydrocracked oils on the market today won't give you the added advantage that you might be expecting. Is the synthetic oil you're using print their drain interval on the bottle? In most cases you won't see most manufacturer's sticking their neck out like that. There are oils on the market today that advertise drain intervals from 10,000-miles all the way up to 25,000 miles.

If you haven't considered switching over to synthetics then now is the time. Technology doesn't wait around just look at cell phones and computers, people have no problem buying the latest gizmo on the market, but when it comes to trying a different motor oil there seems to be some kind of fear that creeps in. The initial higher price shouldn't be a reason not to try synthetic oil, the numerous benefits will justify the price.

Longtime Amsoil Dealer Steve Tarini has been switching people over to Amsoil for over 15 years now and with great success. Amsoil's reputation is growing with each new person that experiences our products and why not, with fuel mileage gains of 3-8% why doesn't everybody us this stuff. With gas prices going up all the time now is the time to switch to Amsoil.
